This week, Family On Three Foundation spread cheer while inspiring hope, self-confidence and perseverance through adversity at Children’s Hospital Montefiore (Bronx, N.Y.) thanks to former NBA player, Anthony Mason, Jr. and New York Knicks legend, Larry Johnson.

Anthony Mason Jr. has always had a love for community and since stepping away from the game of basketball, he has been a dedicated youth advocate through his Family On Three Foundation.

The son of NBA legend, Anthony Mason, Mason Jr. played basketball at St. John’s and competed in the NBA with the Miami Heat before turning his focus fully to giving back to his community. Anthony is no stranger to adversity, and credits his success to the endless encouragement from his mother, family and close friends. He now continues his career off the court as a youth advocate; founding the Family On Three Foundation, where he works hard to ensure that our youth have that same support and strength to help them champion whatever obstacles may come.

For my Pops Bday this year we decided to visit Children’s Hospital at Montefoire … Beautiful day for the@familyonthree Foundation

Regardless if we are talking about books or basketball, the power of a story becomes magnified when it is shared. Much like Anthony Mason, Jr. handing out wrapped copies of The Garden Raid as gifts at the children’s hospital, our neighbors’ stories of innovated and creative actions to better their communities can inspire us all. When we engage in complementing their work and design our own original approach to building community, we are writing the next chapter of the story.

Thank you to Anthony Mason, Jr., Family On Three, and the staff at Children’s Hospital Montefiore for being influential players in supporting our communities. Front Porch Storytelling applauds the good work you are doing.

Front Porch Storytelling is proud to share with you the good work of Anthony Mason, Jr., so that the good continues.
